With over 20 years of experience in the education industry, Charles is a seasoned professional dedicated to empowering learners from all walks of life. Holding a Master’s in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education and a Cambridge Diploma in TESOL, Charles has worn many hats—teacher, teacher trainer, course developer, campus manager, and regional education leader across multiple campuses throughout New Zealand.

Charles’s diverse background spans working with new migrants and refugees, vocational learners such as boatbuilding apprentices and trainee chefs, as well as professionals in the business world. His eight years of teaching and teacher training in Japan further enriched his global perspective and deepened his passion for international education. He thrives on helping students improve their English skills to unlock new opportunities in work, study, and life.

A strong advocate for digital education, Charles developed RudderLive, an award-winning Learning Management System (LMS) for the NZ Marine Industry. This expertise proved invaluable during the COVID-19 pandemic when he delivered online English courses to university students in Osaka.

As a founding member of NSEA, Charles has been with the academy since its inception—joining before the classrooms even had furniture. He takes great pride in the school’s growth and was instrumental in the recent achievement of gaining NZQA approval for NZCEL Levels 4 and 5.

Warm, approachable, and deeply committed, Charles creates a welcoming learning environment where students feel supported and inspired. Outside the classroom, he enjoys fishing, gardening, and spending quality time with his wife, their two dogs, and the homestay students who become part of their extended family.
