Sorour Zekrati

Background
Sorour Zekrati is an experienced English language educator, teacher trainer, and assessment specialist. She currently teaches General English courses at New Spark English Academy. Her professional experience spans language teaching, teacher education, and educational assessment across Iran, Turkey, and New Zealand.
Sorour has worked with learners across a wide range of age groups and proficiency levels, including primary and secondary school students, university students, IELTS candidates, and participants in teacher training programmes. Over the course of her career, she has taught General English, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), English for Specific Purposes (ESP), grammar and writing courses, as well as English preparation courses for high school students preparing for NCEA examinations.
In Iran, Sorour held senior educational roles within the Ministry of Education, universities, and language institutes. As a member of the National Secretariat of Educational Assessment and Evaluation, she contributed to nationwide assessment projects, teacher training initiatives, and professional development programmes focused on language assessment and innovative teaching practices. She also served as a national teacher trainer on Iran’s Education TV channel, delivering specialised programmes on assessment literacy, formative assessment, and effective feedback practices for teachers across the country.
Alongside her teaching and teacher training roles, Sorour has remained actively involved in academic research and educational development. In 2022, she was awarded first place nationally at Iran’s National Festival of Innovative Teaching Approaches, organised by the Ministry of Education.
Her international teaching experience began in Turkey through intercultural academic programmes involving multilingual and international learners. She later continued this work in New Zealand, where she taught students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds in a variety of educational settings.
